Roll Ready

Learn the fundamentals. Build confidence. Start properly.

What is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focused on control, technique, and problem-solving.

Instead of relying on strength, BJJ teaches you how to:

• Control and neutralise an opponent

• Escape difficult positions

• Apply submissions safely

• Think under pressure

It’s often described as “physical chess” because every movement leads to another.

And like chess…It only makes sense once you learn the pieces.

Why Most Beginners Struggle

Walking into a normal class can feel like being dropped into the middle of a conversation in another language.

People are saying things like:

• “Get to mount”

• “Frame properly”

• “Work your guard”

…and you’re thinking:

“I have no idea what any of that means.”

That’s where most people quit.

Not because they can’t do it…

But because they were never shown how to start.

A Better Way to Start BJJ

At Geelong Martial Arts, we don’t throw beginners into the deep end.

We built a structured pathway called:

ROLL READY - Beginner BJJ Program

This program is designed specifically for people with zero experience.

Step by step, we teach you how everything fits together so you can:

• Understand what’s happening in class

• Move with purpose instead of guessing

• Build confidence from your first session

What You’ll Learn

Inside Roll Ready, we focus on the foundations that make everything else easier.

Fundamental Movements

The way you move in BJJ matters more than anything.

You’ll learn how to move efficiently, safely, and with control.

Positions & Language

Guard. Mount. Side Control.

You’ll finally understand what these mean… and how to use them.

Transitions

This is where beginners usually get stuck.

We teach you how techniques connect so you’re never frozen mid-roll.

Calm Under Pressure

Learning how to stay composed when things feel chaotic is a skill that carries far beyond the mats.

Who This Is For

This program is designed for:

• Complete beginners (no experience needed)

• Those that want to try something different

• Already train but have missed out on the fundamentals

• Busy people looking for something mentally engaging

You don’t need to be fit.

You don’t need to be confident.

You just need to show up.

What Makes GMA Different

At Geelong Martial Arts, we focus on more than just techniques.

We focus on:

• Structured learning (you always know what you’re working on)

• Supportive coaching (no ego, no intimidation)

• Real progress (not just sweating for the sake of it)

• Lessons within the lessons (discipline, resilience, confidence)

Because the goal isn’t just to learn BJJ…

It’s to become someone who keeps showing up and improving.

What to Expect in Your First Class

You won’t be thrown into sparring.

Instead, you’ll:

• Learn a small number of key movements

• Be guided step-by-step by a coach

• Train in a controlled, beginner-friendly environment

• Leave understanding more than when you walked in

Most people walk out thinking:

“That was nothing like I expected… I actually loved it.”

Your Next Step

You’ve read this far for a reason.

Something about this feels like what you’ve been looking for.

Now it’s just a matter of deciding:

Do you keep thinking about it…

Or do you actually start?
